Zoo Outreach Organisation arranged an awareness programme to commemorate the day. It was held at the Govt. High School, Nathegoundanpudur, Coimbatore. About 40 students aged 13-14 years joined. The theme was “Western Ghats-Freshwater Biodiversity”. They were taught such as types of wetlands, its multifarious uses predominantly home to freshwater species, wise use of wetlands, and followed by comprehensive information about Western Ghats facts and its freshwater biodiversity including the fishes, molluscs, odonates and aquatic plants by using ZOO’s education kits.
