Pangolin Awareness Programmes
During wildlife week, Zoo Outreach Organization conducted awareness programmes for Indian Pangolin (Manis crassicaudata) in Tamil Nadu Western Ghats districts of Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Virudhunagar and Theni from 03-06 October 2017. The programmes were held at Government Higher Secondary School, Ponmanai; Sri Athiri Kala Nilaya Middle School, Sivasailam; Veeramamunivar High School, Krishnaperi and Government Higher Secondary School, Thottipatti. Moreover, special pangolin awareness talks were given to Zoology students of both Sri Paramakalyani College and Ayya Nadar Janaki Ammal College. The programmes were coordinated by St. Johns College, Palayamkottai; Sri Paramakalyani College, Alwarkurichi; Ayya Nadar Janaki Ammal College, Sivakasi and Netaji Snake Trust Usilampatti.
Some more programmes are on the pipeline to cover other Western Ghats districts of Tamil Nadu.
The Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, funds the project.
